When it Comes to Accessing Wireless Media,
There is a Place Like Home

ExteNet Systems works with top-tier hotels and convention centers to serve up access to better wireless connectivity in guest rooms, conference facilities and public spaces.

Today’s business and leisure guests have a lot in common. They want the comforts of home such as wireless technology in their hotel and meeting rooms.

But the improved technology is not limited to the use of guests. It’s also being used for many hotel applications to improve operations and reduce costs, such as wireless kiosks for customer check-in and checkout and handheld devices to communicate with housekeeping staff.

ExteNet’s distributed networks for use by wireless carriers are used in luxury hotels across the country, from the Omni in Dallas to the Trump Tower in Chicago.

Chicago’s Famed McCormick Place—the Nation’s Largest Convention Center—Keeps Trade Show Exhibitors and Visitors Connected

With 2.6-million square feet of exhibit space in four buildings and more than three million annual convention goers, there’s never a good time to improve infrastructure at the nation’s largest convention center, which is located on Chicago’s celebrated lakefront.

Nearly 80 percent of mobile phone calls in the United States either originate or terminate inside buildings, so the managers of McCormick Place knew they needed a way to improve wireless service without disrupting trade shows.

ExteNet Systems provided a solution to improve wireless service across the four convention buildings using the existing heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system infrastructure. With its patented iDuct® technology, the distributed network installed by ExteNet for use by wireless carriers included wireless carrier equipment, remote radio units and antennas that help distribute the signal throughout the buildings.

The patented technology used by ExteNet was a great solution for the unique challenges of McCormick Place. Any carrier may improve its wireless service at the convention center by using the ExteNet distributed network. Not only does the network provide coverage in the operations and office space for McCormick Place employees, it also extends throughout the convention center’s exhibit space and adjacent areas. In a complex environment where network installation could not interrupt scheduled conventions and meetings, ExteNet was successful in completing the network design, installation, test and optimization within the established timeframe.
